SAMPLE ANSWER

One person I know who is from a different culture is my friend, Maria. She is originally from Brazil.

I got to know Maria when we were both attending a language exchange program in our city. We were assigned as conversation partners and started practicing English and Portuguese together. Over time, we developed a close friendship and began exploring each other’s cultures through shared experiences.

I feel a strong sense of admiration for Maria and her Brazilian culture. She has introduced me to traditional Brazilian music, food, and customs, which have been enriching experiences for me. I appreciate her warm and vibrant personality, as well as her strong sense of community and family values.

Maria’s perspective and worldview have broadened my horizons and challenged my preconceptions. Through our conversations, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the Brazilian way of life, their rich history, and their unique traditions. It has been fascinating to learn about the diverse cultural celebrations, such as Carnival, and the importance of samba music in Brazilian society.

What I find particularly inspiring about Maria is her passion for preserving her cultural heritage while embracing the opportunities and experiences in our current multicultural society. She takes pride in her roots and is always willing to share her knowledge and experiences with others.

Overall, I feel fortunate to have Maria as a friend from a different culture. Our friendship has not only strengthened my language skills but has also opened my mind to the beauty of diversity and the importance of cultural exchange. I’m grateful for the valuable insights she has provided and the meaningful connection we have developed through our shared experiences.
