Describe a person you have met who you want to work or study with

You should say:

Who this person is

How you met this person

How long you have known him/her

And explain why you want to work/study with him/her

 

SUGGESTED IDEAS

Who this person is:

  • Introduce the person you want to work or study with and explain why you admire them, e.g. “The person I want to work or study with is a woman named Sarah, who I met through a mutual friend. I was struck by her intelligence and her dedication to her field of study.”

How you met this person:

  • Provide some context for how you met the person, e.g. “I met Sarah at a networking event for professionals in my industry. We struck up a conversation about our shared interests and quickly hit it off.”

How long you have known him/her:

  • Mention how long you have known the person, e.g. “I have known Sarah for about a year now, and we have kept in touch through occasional meetings and email correspondence.”

And explain why you want to work/study with him/her:

  • Highlight some of the qualities or skills that make the person a good fit for your work or study goals, e.g. “What I admire most about Sarah is her deep knowledge of the industry and her ability to think critically about complex problems. I believe that working or studying alongside her would give me the opportunity to learn from someone who has a wealth of experience in the field.”
  • Share any specific projects or initiatives that the person has been involved in that you find inspiring or impressive, e.g. “Sarah recently led a research study that uncovered some fascinating insights about consumer behavior in our industry. I was blown away by her insights and would love to work with her on future research projects.”
  • Reflect on how the person’s skills or experience complement your own, and how you believe you could benefit from working or studying together, e.g. “I believe that Sarah’s strengths in research and analysis would complement my own skills in creative thinking and problem-solving. I think that by working together, we could come up with innovative solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing our industry.”
