WRITING TASK 1

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

The charts below show the global market ratio of three computer operating systems compared to other from 2012 to 2015.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

The four pie charts illustrate the global market share of three computer operating systems (OS 1, OS 2, and OS 3) in comparison to other operating systems from 2012 to 2015.

Overall, other operating systems initially held the largest market share in 2012, but their dominance declined sharply over the years. Meanwhile, OS 1 experienced continuous growth, surpassing other OSs by 2013 and reaching its highest share in 2015. OS 2 and OS 3 showed relatively minor fluctuations throughout the period.

In 2012, other operating systems accounted for nearly half of the market at 48%, while OS 1 had a much smaller share of 20%. OS 2 and OS 3 held similar proportions at 17% and 15%, respectively. However, by 2013, OS 1 had gained a significant 18-percentage-point increase, reaching 38%, overtaking other OSs, which dropped to 35%. OS 2 remained unchanged at 17%, whereas OS 3 declined to just 10%, making it the smallest segment.

The trend continued in 2014, with OS 1 rising further to 47%, widening the gap with other operating systems, which fell to 23%—less than half of its original share. OS 2 saw a minor increase to 18%, while OS 3 slightly recovered to 12%. Finally, in 2015, OS 1 reached its peak at 52%, more than tripling its initial share in 2012. In contrast, other OSs declined to just 15%, making them the smallest segment for the first time. OS 2 remained stable at 18%, while OS 3 grew to 15%.

Task 2:

Throughout history, people have dreamed of living in a perfect society, but they have not agreed on what an ideal society would be like. What do you think is the most important element of a perfect society in the modern world? How can people work towards achieving an ideal society.

For centuries, people have envisioned a society where everyone thrives, yet opinions differ on what such a world should entail. In my view, ensuring social equality is the most vital factor in creating a fair and harmonious community. This essay will explore why guaranteeing equal opportunities for all is fundamental and suggest ways to move closer to this ideal.

To begin with, equitable treatment for all members of society is the foundation of a just and balanced community. When individuals have the same access to education, healthcare, and career prospects, they are more likely to make meaningful contributions to their surroundings. For example, nations that place a strong emphasis on fairness and inclusivity tend to experience greater economic stability and stronger social bonds. On the other hand, a lack of equality often results in crime, dissatisfaction, and political instability, making it a significant barrier to societal progress.

To make strides towards a better society, both governments and individuals must take responsibility. Firstly, policymakers should introduce initiatives that foster equal opportunities, such as providing high-quality education and healthcare at no cost. These steps can narrow the gap between different social classes and offer a fair starting point for everyone. Secondly, citizens should take an active role in their communities by engaging in volunteer work, standing up for human rights, and embracing diversity. Through joint efforts, people can gradually move in the direction of a more fair and inclusive world.

In conclusion, while opinions may vary on what constitutes an ideal community, I believe that promoting social equality is at the core of a better society. By ensuring fairness in opportunities and taking concrete steps to reduce disparities, both individuals and governments can collaborate effectively to create a world that is more just, inclusive, and prosperous.
